On Saturday 15th August, in hot sunshine (remember that?) Rotarian Ashok Harshey, of Llandudno Rotary Club walked 22 miles on behalf of two charities.
Accompanied by Rotarian Ian Trevette for the first 10 miles, he started from Llandudno Pier at 8.30 am and was joined at Llanfairfechan by two walking club friends, Doug and Beryl, for the remaining 10 miles to Bangor Pier, arriving at 4.30 pm.
Take a look at the two pics to see how unfazed Ashok was after the experience of a walk longer than most of us have ever done in our lives!
About 50 friends, Rotarians and other well-wishers sponsored Ashok to the tune of £1,200, which is to be divided equally between the Llandudno Hope Restored Foodbank and the Khayesitsha Foodbank, Cape Town, South Africa. The link with the latter is that Llandudno Rotary has worked in partnership with Sea Point Rotary Club in Cape Town, South Africa on other projects for some years, notably the Ilitha pre-school project, which goes from strength to strength.
