This event is an art & music festival with something for everyone,inspired by the Welsh folk story of Afanc. The event is set inside the heart of Conwy Castle and will involve many different genres and styles of music. However this is not going to be your usual event, whether you want to come and party hard, or just relax and soak up the atmosphere there’s plenty for you. This event is going to be the highlight of your May in 2017, Don’t just take our word for it.

Friday – From Llanrwst to the Tal y Cafn Station along the Conwy Valley Hills – We will take the train (payable) from the Tal y Cafn Station to Llanrwst Station and walk back on lanes and footpaths with spectacular views into the Carneddau mountain range and the Conwy estuary. Friday– Cuckoo Walk, Pensychnant – According to legend, centuries ago, the parish council of Dolwyddelan decided to build a high wall around the parish to keep the cuckoos therein all year round. We will be checking Pensychnant’s walls! Hopefully we will hear the cuckoo, a species which has declined by 65% since 1980s. Duration: 2 hours. Distance: 4 km / 2.5 miles. Phone: 01492 592595
Saturday – Crimpiau, Crafnant – We’ll walk up through the woods along the beautiful Crafnant Valley to the end of Llyn Geirionydd and on to Crimpiau via forestry roads and old tracks. If we’re lucky with the weather we’ll be treated to wonderful views of the Snowdon range, the Ogwen Valley, and the Carneddau. Duration: 6-7 hours. Distance: Approximately 12 km / 8 miles. Saturday– From Eglwysbach to Maenan and back through Bodnant Estate – We start at Eglwysbach School and walk on lanes and public footpaths in a south-west direction around Pennant to Maenan. Passing “Cadair Ifan Goch” we will take the lane to Llyn Syberi and follow it further to “Lletty”. A steep path will lead us down back to Eglwysbach. Duration: 5-6 hours. Distance: 15 km / 10 miles. Sunday – Parc Mawr – St Celynin Old Parish Church, Llangelynin, Conwy – We will meander on little paths with steps through Parc Mawr slowly uphill to join the North Wales Pilgrims’ Way. This leads us to St Celynin Church, Llangelynin. The walk continues further up along the northern side of Craig Celynin to Maen Penddu, then parallel to Cefn Maen Amor. Duration: 4-5 hours. Come along and enjoy a not to be missed one-off weekend of workshops & performances by top UK African performance artists who are visiting us to share their skills. Many members of our North Wales community have enjoyed learning, listening and watching African art forms including percussion and dance over the years. This is a special treat for yourselves and anyone who would like to come and discover more. Our Saturday evening performances are an opportunity to showcase our amazing artists and will be great entertainment for all the family.

African Cuisine 6 – 7 pm by Maggie Come and join us for a sit down candlelit meal before the show begins. Meals must be booked in advance (by email firstname.lastname@example.org). Menu: West African luxury jollof rice with stew chicken and fried plantain (stewed vegetables for the vegetarian option). Desert is yet to be confirmed but will either be Mango and passion fruit cheesecake or African puff puff.
Evening Performance 7 – 8.30 pm / DJ until 10 pm
All welcome – this is a family friendly evening of performance, fun and creative exchange. We will begin the evening with a story from Jahman Aggrey, storyteller, sharing tales from his home country of Sierra Leone with the unique music of the Kondi. Jahman will be followed by one of the UK’s top African arts practitioners, Angie Amra Anderson for a special drumming performance. Along with Angie’s drumming we will welcome African dance artist Eva Chou Goudiaby with her high energy dance moves. Angie will be accompanied by some of our local advanced drummers. The evening will be compered and guided by Magnus Agugu aka the Fan Man. The evening will be rounded up nicely by local DJ fflyffilyfbybl for some funky African grooves.
