Gorjys Secrets Festival

After last years award-winning debut, ‘Gorjys Secrets Music Festival’ returns to the beautifully manicured grounds of Caer Rhun Hall in the splendour of the Conwy Valley, North Wales on Saturday the 16th of September.
Bringing together an international line up of artists and bands alongside showcasing some of the finest singer songwriters from around Wales Gorjys Secrets is a beautiful day of music and festivities but as 2016 showed Gorjys Secrets is so much more than just another music festival.
Amidst the finely landscaped gardens and woodland atmosphere Gorjys Secrets promises a truly family friendly, unique and special day and as the darkness falls and through the use of the breathtaking lighting displays and decorations, the grounds and trees are transformed into a magical wonderland bringing to life the legends of Caer Rhun to immerse you further into this Gorjys bubble.
Throughout the day at the festivals marketplace and bars you can sample some of the finest local craft Ales Gins and Wine and feast at our sumptuous and locally sourced independent food vendors – you will never go hungry or be in need of a fine drink.
Camping is available and for festival goers who wish to arrive early to camp on the Friday evening they have free entry to the grounds and bars for the popular night of comedy that is – Gorjys Secrets ‘Giggles under the Tree’. Hosted last year by the award winning and hilarious Tudur Owen this will be a great night of fun – not to be missed and the perfect kick-start to the weekend!

Heritage Sites Open their Doors

Open Doors 2017 – Join us for Wales’ largest annual celebration of architecture and heritage. Admission is free:
15-17 September – St Julitta’s Church, Capel Curig – The smallest of the old churches of
Snowdonia and a Grade II* listed building. Exhibition celebrating 50 years of the Snowdonia Society and
its work since 1967. Open 11am to 4.30pm.
16/17, 23/24 and 30 September – Llanelian Church, Llanelian yn Rhos, Colwyn Bay
An ancient, double-naved church in the Clwydian style. Of special interest is a pre-Reformation tripych, painted in naïve style on wood. Open 10am to 4pm.
16 September – St Cystennin’s Church, Llangystennin – St Cystennin Church was thought to be founded in 338AD and dedicated to one of the Constantine’s. The present church was rebuilt in 1843 and is Grade II listed. Open 10am to 4pm.
16 September – Shiloh Community Centre – The Shiloh is a converted chapel with a Heritage Room celebrating the history and culture of the Machno Valley. Local crafts and exhibition about the history of the Machno Valley. Open 11am to 4pm.
16 September – Tŷ Mawr Wybrnant, Penmachno – One of the most important houses in the history of the Welsh language and home to William Morgan, who translated the Bible into Welsh in 1588. Open 12pm to 5pm.
16 September – United Church, Penmachno – This is the third chapel on the site, built in 1873 as a Calvinistic Methodist place of worship. Admire this beautiful building with its gallery, organ and decorated ceiling. Open 10am to 4pm.
17 September – Llangelynnin Old Church – Enjoy the very special setting of this 12th century church, 900 feet above Henryd, alongside the ancient St Celynnin’s Well with the beauty and serenity that captures the pilgrim heart. Open 9am to 6pm.
17 September – Parish Church of St Trillo, Rhos-on-Sea – A charming Grade II* listed medieval church dating partly from the 12th century. Whitewashed, it provided a landmark for vessels at sea.Burial place of Officer Lowe, hero of the Titanic. Open 9am to 6pm.
