Music from the 70’s and 80’s
Sunday – noon – 6pm – Rhyl Arena
Take a trip back to the 70s and 80s with a free day of music in Rhyl. Denbighshire County Council, supported by Rhyl Town Council, is hosting the event with acts including The Christians, Doctor and the Medics, Aswad and Odyssey.
It all takes place at Rhyl Arena on Sunday, August 13, between midday and 6pm. Cllr Bobby Feeley, Denbighshire’ lead member for Well-being and Independence, said: “The line-up features the best of the great acts from the 70s and 80s which are guaranteed to remind you of singing into your hairbrush.
“This is a rare opportunity to dig out your legwarmers and relive those days to the full. “You’ll be singing along to every song and you could even join in the big sing or do a star turn on stage. “This is going to be a great family day out, so come along and join the fun at Rhyl Arena.”
Originally from Liverpool, The Christians’ hits include Harvest for the World while Doctor and the Medics are best known for their cover of Norman Greenbaum’s Spirit in the Sky. Aswad rose to prominence in the 1980s with hits including Don’t Turn Around and as well as New York disco pioneers Odyssey, the line-up is completed by Ska Britannia and guest DJs.
The public will not be allowed to bring alcohol to the event and only ‘sealed’ plastic bottles of water/juice will be allowed on site. There will be a bar and caterers on site throughout the festival.
