Entertaining Angels is a deceptively profound and comic play which focuses on Grace, a former clergy wife, who is enjoying her new-found freedom following the death of her husband, Bardolph. After spending a lifetime of being on her best behaviour she can now do and say exactly as she pleases.
Joining Grace in this latest stage of her life is her therapist daughter, Jo; her eccentric missionary sister, Ruth and Sarah the new female vicar with some very un-clergy-like credentials.
As the action progresses, Grace faces some disturbing revelations and is forced to confront Bardolph’s ghost and the truth of their marriage.
Richard Everett’s clever, funny and touching play asks whether God can be trusted to do anything at all “or is the whole thing a divine exercise in trial and error?”
Entertaining Angels is directed by the wonderful Brian Gilbert, who has previously directed The Extraordinary Revelations of Orca the Goldfish, Lovers, The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged), The Golden Pathway Annual and Memory of Water. Brian says “This is a play which I hope audiences will enjoy. Performed by a very strong cast, it has a gentle blend of lively wit and real emotion.”
Entertaining Angels is showing at Grove Park Theatre, Hill Street, Wrexham from Thursday 14th February to Saturday 23rd February. There is a matinee performance on Saturday 16th February.

Exhibition: Josephine Meckseper
MOSTYN – Llandudno
We are pleased to present both existing work and new commissions in the first solo exhibition in Wales, and the first institutional solo exhibition in a decade, by German born and New York based artist Josephine Meckseper.
One of the foremost female artists of her generation working today, Meckseper’s work combines the aesthetic language of modernism with the formal languages of commercial display and advertising. In her shop window installations, large-scale display sculptures and films, she exposes the paradoxes of consumer culture through the combination of mass-produced objects with images and artefacts of historical and political events.
At the core of the exhibition will be a set of glass, resin and steel sculptures, along with two dimensional and film work.
Open Tuesday – Sunday
Admission is FREE
Exhibition: Louisa Gagliardi – Under the Weather
MOSTYN – Llandudno
We are delighted to present the first solo exhibition in a UK institution of the work of Switzerland born and Zurich based artist Louisa Gagliardi.
Gagliardi’s work pulls apart the construction of an image, and of our society, in a digital age while appearing to explore the codes and history of painting. Her works pose questions around ideas of figure and ground, flatness and depth. Working digitally initially – using a freehand digital illustration tool – her pieces are later seemingly translated into paintings.
Presenting both new and existing works, this exhibition places a spotlight on the defining factors of Gagliardi’s practice, which has also turned to the location of the gallery for inspiration. In various ways, the works explore the urban environment and the countryside, and the conflict that can arise between the two.
Open Tuesday – Sunday
Admission is FREE
