January is named after Janus, the Roman god of beginnings and transitions – i.e. both looking forwards and looking backwards.
Fitting then, that as we move into the New Year, we look back – particularly to Rotary’s Christmas presence on the streets of Llandudno
We want to say a huge “thankyou” to the generous residents, visitors and shoppers of Llandudno for the incredible sum of £1,292 donated to either our snowmen collectors in Mostyn Street or to Father Christmas, tucked away in his cave in Llandudno library.
Rotary has held a Christmas collection for many years in Llandudno but hosting Father Christmas was a “first” for us.
Father Christmas, David Lea, The Pope? Who knows? Clue – it’s one of these three!
Huge thanks also, to the organisers, Philip Jones for organising the street collection and to Mike Perry for exercising his influence to persuade Father Christmas to come to town. Thanks also, to all those Rotarians and Friends of Rotary who helped in any way, as elves, deputy Santas, snowmen, toy donors, scene-shifters,or money-counters – a great team effort!

President John New bring both charm and menace
to the proceedings!
