The team at Conwy Cynhalion (Conwy Rural Partnership and Conwy Local Action Group ) had a hugely successful event recently when they hosted a Rural Jobs Fair in Llanrwst’s Glasdir Business Centre.
With almost 40 business attending the range of opportunities on offer was astounding.
There was the chance to get help with your CV, practise interview techniques, learn about apprenticeships and college courses as well as immediate employment opportunities being offered by many local businesses such as The Royal Oak and The Deganwy Quay Hotel.
There was also a number of groups with stands who were able to offer advice and help about getting into employment and support, not just with general wellbeing but also more specific issues, such as The ROWAN organisation who support services to disabled people, older people, people with learning disability, people with mental ill-health, families and carers.
Along with the workshops and the chance to speak to people from so many different organisations there was also a bit of fun to be had – the lovely folk from the Picture Box Photobooths were in attendance and everyone had a great laugh dressing up, trying on hats and wigs and talking about uniform and appearance.
Entertaining everyone was the ever delightful Islwyn Jones representing Big Ideas Wales – supported by his beautiful owls and birds of prey who made themselves comfortable meeting everyone and flying about the hall.
It was a delight to see so many people of all ages getting help searching for work, information and support in such a welcoming environment and great to this event happening in Llanrwst reaching people in Conwy’s more rural areas.
