A day at the seaside doesn’t sound that special when you live here, but if you live a thousand miles from the sea and endure bad health and poverty, it’s a big deal!
For many years, the Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline North Wales charity has created a wonderful mix of holiday and educational trip for hundreds of children from those parts of Belarus and The Ukraine ravaged by the 1986 nuclear disaster.
Llandudno Rotary Club is proud to play its small part in this endeavour. A couple of members host some of the children during their stay and also the Club itself is due to host a fun-packed day in the town for the 14 children involved.
On Thursday 22nd June, they will meet with Llandudno’s Mayor in the Mayor’s Chamber, followed by a trip to the Bonkerz Fun Centre, a ride on the Great Orme Tramway, a visit to the copper mines, refreshments and play at the Summit and then catch the cable car back to a slap-up tea in a member’s local hotel. Give them a wave and say ‘hello’ if you see them!
