Under the banner of the Marine Conservation Society ( https://www.mcsuk.org/ ) and the dedicated leadership of Llandudno resident Patricia Stone, about 50 volunteers, including 6 from Llandudno Rotary played their part in helping to make Britain’s beaches cleaner.
“The co-ordinator for the Marine Conservation Society weighed what we picked up in an hour today, at the North Shore. 31 big council bags, weight 135 pounds, ie. 61 kg. Several volunteers said that ours was one of the cleanest beaches that they had worked on, but there are still the great amount of cigarette stubs, under where the seats are and wet wipes. Thanks to the people on this site who came to help with registration and handing out the litter pickers, hi viz jackets and surveys. Several volunteers arrived later due to an accident on the A55. At least the weather was on our side”
For anyone wanting to help with this work in the future, there is the opportunity to join a similar group – just for an hour – every fourth Tuesday at 11 am at the West Shore, meeting outside the Lilley Hotel. Equipment provided, just dress sensibly, especially footwear.
